It’s generally the cars that have a famous promoter that really grab the headlines, and that was certainly the case with the Renault Clio advert that burst on to our screens back in 2002.

Up until that point Thierry Henry, world famous footballer and former member of the Arsenal team, was best known for his football. But his appearance in the Renault Clio advert ensured that plenty more people would be looking for used Renault Clios the next time they were in the market for a new car.

In an ad that also featured a pink poodle, Thierry Henry was seen driving the latest Renault Clio model and enjoying it immensely. The ad was also known for its catchphrase ‘va va voom’, which caught on so much that Thierry Henry was then associated with it – perhaps even more than the car was.

For a world class footballing star like Henry to be associated with any particular make and model of car, it has to be an outstanding one. Used Renault cars never seem to stay on the market for long, so if you want to get your hands on some of that ‘va va voom’, don’t hang around.
